Greetings to all our Church family and to all our visitors:
What a glorious way to begin the month of April—EASTER SUNDAY! We have journeyed through Lent, experienced Holy Week with the wonderful messages that were brought to us by our visiting clergy, and now Easter! We are Easter People!
Spring time is the time of new birth—nature is alive with the flowers and trees bursting forth in full bloom. It is a time for awakening to the reality of our faith and keeping our focus on the One who is our Lord and Savior. Let our vision for Port Royal UMC always be centered in our Lord. My faith and my trust is always in Him, whom we celebrate at Easter and throughout the year as our Risen Savior.
One morning I heard a sweet voice outside my home. Out of curiosity I peeped through the window and saw a small bird singing joyfully. Its beak was pointed up into the clear shy as if to thank and praise the Lord for the sunny day.
Hearing this little bird’s song reminded me that we too should give thanks with grateful hearts for those who help us in our times of need, friends who stand by our side in hard times, friends who comfort our sorrowful hearts in times of loss. But, how often do we thank and praise God for all the benefits and blessings poured on us every day? The apostle Paul wrote in his letter to the Thessalonians: “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” (1 Thess. 5:18). This verse and others remind us to thank and praise our Savior, Jesus Christ, for even the smallest gifts. Like the little bird who had lifted his song to God, praising Him for a new day, we too can voice our praise every day.
Now that the time change has taken place, I hope that you will make a decision to come and join us for Sunday School, and on Wednesday evening join us for supper and Bible Study time. We have begun a study of Daniel on Wednesday night. This is a powerful story, which touches all of us. Kids for Christ also meets every Wednesday night at 6:15. All of our youth are encouraged to come and join in for this great time of learning and singing together,
We are also looking forward to our 5th Sunday combined service with St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on April 29 at 11:00 in the morning. Then we will all return to our Fowler Hall for a dinner and fellowship together. This is always a wonderful time to share with our friends of St. Mark’s. Besides, the food is out of this world! Put this special day on your calendars.
Let us always work together to give glory to our God and to build our Church that we will give Him the honor and praise always! When we stop to count our blessings, we will find many reasons to praise God every day.
