As we begin our summer months here at Port Royal UMC, our thoughts turn to the activities that are before us. When I heard our Communications Chairperson, Susan Toenniessen, make the announcement that “It’s time to submit your information for the June newsletter,” I immediately thought: What? It can’t be time already!
The month of June begins with John Wells, our Lay Member to Annual Conference, and his wife Delane, and your pastor, traveling to Greenville, SC, on June 3rd for the SC Methodist Conference. We will be there through Wednesday, June 6th, returning home that afternoon. Please keep us and the Conference in prayer as there are resolutions to be voted on that are so important to our SC Conference and our individual churches. John will give a brief summary on the Sunday following our return home.
A vote was taken on Wednesday night, May 16th, not to meet during the summer months on Wednesday evenings through the summer. A suggestion was made to start up again on the Wednesday after Labor Day, which will be September 5th. So, beginning in June through August, the Wednesday night suppers and Bible study will not be meeting. But, it is my prayer that come September, our members and friends and family will make a commitment to start off by coming and joining in the fellowship and Bible study once again.
As you may have heard already, a NEW BIBLE STUDY will commence on June 11th right here in our Fellowship Hall, led by Delane Wells. Please make a decision to come and be here for the exciting time. It is a six (6) weeks study that will be interesting and rewarding, as Delane leads all who attend in God’s Word. The time of week is Monday mornings from 10 AM to 11 AM. Won’t you consider giving an hour to this time of study?
And, don’t forget the exciting event that is taking place on Sunday, June 24th! See the notice from the Worship Committee. Make plans to stay after Church that Sunday and enjoy this time together.
Is that Praise music I hear? Stay tuned…
May we all have a very safe and happy summer 2018. Invite someone you know to come to church and be a part of our community of believers.
Your pastor, Anne
